What is Life Coaching?

Life Coaching is a new paradigm in the helping profession that has been in development for many decades. When I say Life Coaching, I am talking about more than just defining and achieving dreams and goals.

Life Coaching uses unique self-discovery tools and methods to help you identify and clarify your own vision and life purpose. Using positive feedback and structured support to nourish you, you are encouraged to apply that self- knowledge to all areas of your life. As your living shifts into alignment with your highest values, you gain clarity, perspective and experience greater fulfillment throughout your life.

Many of us have felt the satisfaction of attaining goals. But that satisfaction is often short-lived and replaced by the challenge to attain newer and bigger goals. Life Coaching gets to the root of satisfaction and fulfillment, and offers far more than the satisfaction of goal attainment. It isn't enough to attain our external goals. Long-lasting fulfillment comes from understanding what each goal represents and means, so that in the process we can be sure we are honoring our true selves.

How is coaching different from consulting?

A consultant is an outside expert hired to find solutions for specific problems. In coaching, the client is the expert and is held as capable, resourceful and responsible for creating their own future.

How is coaching different from counseling?

Counseling focuses on the client's past experiences and how these impact the client's current life. Coaching focuses on where the client is in the moment and opening up the possibilities for the future.

How is coaching different from friendship?

In friendship, friends operate from a place of judgment, offering opinions and advice. Coaching creates a safe space for clients to be and explore wherever they are currently without judgment, opinions or advice.

What is Amy's coaching style or approach?

I believe all parts of a person's life are inextricably linked. I believe we each have our very own "North Star" and internal compass that point us in the right direction for our own personal journey through life. I believe when we tune into our personal compass, making choices that align with our truest desires, we naturally and easily experience greater success, joy and fulfillment.

My role, no matter where you are on your journey, is to help you rediscover your own North Star, reconnect with your own personal compass, and help you align your thoughts and actions with these inherent truths. I support you by creating a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and actions, ask you powerful questions, helping you create goals in alignment with your truth, asking you to take action toward your goals, and supporting you fully in whatever choices you make for yourself knowing you are your own best expert.

Your role, beginning immediately, is to be honest with yourself and me, be willing to make changes that support your goals and dreams, be willing to "try on" new ideas, be completely responsible for your own choices, be willing to examine your current beliefs, be willing to create the future you most desire, and be willing to see yourself for the beautiful, magical, powerful, loving creature you already are.

You will always be safe with me and I will never ask you to do something that isn't in alignment with your truth. And you always, 100% of the time, have the ability and right to choose something new, different or say "no" to any thing! You are in total control and always at choice - there is no wrong answer here!

A great way to get a taste of my personal style of coaching is through an introductory session. Experiencing an introductory session will give you first hand experience with what coaching is and can do for you. It also offers you an opportunity to determine if coaching is right for you, and if we are compatible as a team. There is no obligation to hire me as your coach or make any choices about coaching with me. In fact, I encourage you to try sample sessions with several different coaches to make sure you find the best fit for you.

Life coaching is flexible and applicable to many areas of life - career, finances, creativity, dreams, goals, and spirituality. It's all about gaining greater awarenss and deepening that connection with your own truth and what is right for you. Part of our work together is creating something that matches your specific needs and goals.

What makes a successful partnership is my client's willingness to explore her/his own beliefs, assumptions, and choices, and my client's ability to come to a place of taking complete responsiblity for their experience in this life. Wow! Thats big stuff.
